LEVITAS

Creating a Sleek, Comfortable Foiling Catamaran for Effortless Lake Adventures.

Levitas, meaning float and light, was created to solve a common problem in personal watercraft. Most are designed to push through waves, sacrificing comfort and stability. Levitas introduces a refined foiling catamaran platform that glides smoothly above the surface for a quiet, effortless ride. Whether it’s a calm cruise, an adventurous outing, or relaxing time on the lake, Levitas adapts to your pace and purpose. With its focus on comfort, performance, and elegance, it reimagines what two person leisure boating can be.

01 Research Insights

Aluminum Dinghies

Aluminum dinghies are compact, open utility boats built from welded or riveted aluminum for fishing, transport, and tender use. With shallow draft, simple outboard power, and beach ready toughness, they excel at short trips and practical tasks on sheltered water.

Pros

  • Tough, low-maintenance hull

  • Light, shallow-draft, easy to launch

  • Cheap to buy and run

Cons

  • Harsh, wet ride in chop

  • Bare-bones comfort/amenities

  • Struggles with waves/wakes

Inflatable rafts are lightweight boats made of PVC or Hypalon with multiple air chambers, designed for casual cruising, fishing, or tender use. They pack down compactly, can be launched almost anywhere, and are powered by oars or a small outboard, making them perfect for simple, carefree days on the lake.

Pros

  • Ultra-portable; packs in a trunk

  • Stable, soft sides; beginner-friendly

  • Low cost; simple setup/repair

Cons

  • Slow; poor tracking in wind

  • Puncture/abrasion risk; UV wear

  • Minimal seats/storage; soggy ride in chop

Inflatable Rafts

Small pontoon boats are twin tube, deck on float leisure craft built for calm lakes, powered by outboard motors and equipped with couch style seating, tables, and shade canopies, making them ideal for relaxed cruising and social time on the water.

Pros

  • Super stable, safe platform; shallow draft

  • Roomy, comfortable seating with lots of layout options

  • Easy, low-stress operation for families and guests

Cons

  • Slaps/sprays in chop; rougher, wetter ride at speed

  • High windage; sluggish handling in waves and turns

  • Bulky to trailer/store; efficiency drops compared with foiling designs

02 Design Opportunity

A lake leisure boat purpose-built to be very comfortable and highly efficient fills the gap other boats miss. Traditional pontoons feel plush but burn fuel and slap in wakes, while dinghies, jon boats, and inflatables sip power but ride harsh, wet, and noisy. By focusing on a smooth, quiet ride in chop and low energy use at cruise, this design delivers the premium experience without the usual trade-offs.

GOAL

Develop a hydrofoil leisure boat that delivers exceptionally smooth, comfortable, and energy-efficient lake cruising—surpassing current alternatives.

Comfort, Without Drag.

Levitas bridges a clear gap in the market by combining exceptional ride comfort with impressive operating efficiency, centered around its defining hydrofoil technology. The foils lift the hull above wakes and surface turbulence, reducing drag, vibration, and spray for a smoother, quieter experience. This design lowers power demand at cruising speeds and extends range for a given fuel or battery capacity. Every element from the catamaran hulls and weight distribution to the propulsion system is engineered around the foils to optimize takeoff speed, stability, and control, delivering performance that surpasses traditional pontoons and small monohulls in real lake conditions.

WHY LEVITAS?

Above the Chop, Beyond the Expected.

EFFICIENCY FOIL PLATFORM

Hydrofoils lift the hull above the surface chop, eliminating nearly all hull to water contact that causes slamming, spray, and vibration. The result is a smooth, quiet, and fatigue free ride even through heavy afternoon wakes. By minimizing wetted area and wave making resistance, the foils dramatically reduce drag, allowing the boat to maintain higher speeds with significantly less power. This means smaller motors and batteries, lower energy consumption and operating costs, and a minimal wake that helps protect shorelines and wildlife. Combined with an electric drive, the experience is effortlessly comfortable and leaves a distinctly lighter environmental footprint.

OPTIMIZED BATTERY EFFICIENCY

The electric power system is built to make family days effortless, with push button start, no fumes, and quiet, low vibration cruising so conversations flow naturally without engine noise. Interchangeable battery packs slide in like luggage, allowing you to extend range for long outings or keep the boat light for quick swims. Charging is as simple as plugging in a car at home or at the marina, with no fuel runs and no spills. With fewer moving parts, maintenance is minimal, and there are no hot surfaces or messy fluids to worry about around kids and pets.
